First College Graduate: How To Best Navigate Your Kid's College Graduation

Blog

With the start of spring brings the start of graduation season. Most college graduation ceremonies take place during April, May, June, and July. It can be overwhelming knowing what to do if this is your first child to graduate from college. If you want to have a hotel to stay in and also a place to celebrate your child's graduation from college, you need to start planning now.

Book A Hotel

The first thing you need to do is book a hotel. Hotels near your child's campus are going to book up fast during graduation weekend. If you want to snag a hotel room that is not in the next town, you should call and make reservations today.

When you make your reservations, be sure to mention that you are in town for the graduation ceremonies. Often times, universities and hotels will partner up and offer discounts rooms for graduation.

It is better to make a reservation now and have to cancel than it is to wait and try to find a room the weekend of graduation. Book as many rooms as you think you will need right now. You can always change your reservation and decrease the number of rooms you need later.

Transportation To The Graduation Ceremony

Chances are, it is going to be pretty slim pickings when it comes parking at your child's graduation ceremony. There will be way more people on campus than there are parking spaces.

One way to save yourself from having to deal with the parking fiasco that is sure to ensue is to arrange transportation to and from the event for your family. You can call up the local cab company and see if you can arrange a pickup at a specific time. Or you can arrange for a car service to take you to the ceremony and pick you up afterwards.

That way, you will not have to worry about finding a parking space. You will be able to just focus on enjoying the ceremony.

Find A Place To Celebrate

After your child's graduation, you are going to want to celebrate their accomplishment. However, you are not going to be the only person who has that idea. That is why you should not wing where to go the day off. You should make a reservation today.

You could book a table at a restaurant in town so that you can celebrate after the ceremony. Be sure to include enough time in-between the reservation and the ceremony for picture taking and congratulations. You child may want to take pictures and exchange congratulations with their friends as well.

If your child has a close group of friends, you and the other families could come together and rent out a room or a section of a restaurant. Renting it out to together may be the most affordable option.

If your child has a house or apartment where they would rather have the celebrations, you can take some of the stress off by having the event catered. You can bring in a catering service, or you can just order food from a local restaurant or grocery store that you can pick up and serve yourself.

The key to enjoying your first child's college graduation is to plan ahead. Book a hotel room now, and arrange for transportation to and from the ceremony with a company like A New Day Radio Dispatch, Inc. Talk with your child and see how they would like to celebrate their graduation and come up with a plan together.

Exploring Airport Transportation Options

Hi there, I am Taylor Eilson. I hope that you will visit my site all of the time to talk about airport transportation. When I first started my career, I was so scared of traveling from place to place for business meetings. The process of storing my car, making it to my flight on time and moving around town without a personal vehicle felt daunting at first. Luckily, with my first experience taking a cab to the airport, all of those feelings changed. From that point on, I vowed to try out all of the airport transportation options available to find my favorite ones. I hope that I can help others find their favorite way to travel to and from the airport in style. Please come by anytime to learn more.
