Stay Healthy While Traveling: Taxi Cab Tips

Blog

Taking a cab can be one of the easiest and best ways to get around when you are traveling, but there are some things that you can do to make sure you stay healthy while you're on the road. A taxi (such as is offered by White Top Cab Company) can help get you to your destination on time and without worry, so find a reliable company with a good reputation. If you are leaving in the morning you can ask to be the fist pickup for the day, and you'll want to consider the following things before your ride.

Illness and Bacteria

There can be hundreds of types of bacteria living in carpeting, because it's easy to transfer bacteria on shoes. Shoes are in bathrooms, communal places, and are rarely if ever cleaned and sanitized. The cab will see dozens of people throughout the day, and everyone's shoes are going to land in the same place. Keeping your bag off the ground of the cab, and on your lap or on the seat is a safer option. You also want to consider washing your shoes or spraying them with sanitizer.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs have become a prevalent problem in North America, and they can live for months without human contact. If someone had a bag in a hotel room that had bed bugs and the bag became a carrier, you don't want your bag in the trunk with theirs. Try to keep your bag with you in the front of the vehicle, and keep it off the fabric if you can.

You don't want to bring home a bed bug infestation. Place your luggage in a plastic bag so it can't get penetrated, or carry plastic luggage.

Money

Money can carry a variety bacteria and things, so it's best to avoid getting cash back from the taxi cab driver. If possible, give them enough to cover the ride and tip, or use your card if you can. All cash is dirty, but people are more likely to be sick when traveling, and you don't want their contaminated money from your cab driver.

The taxi is a great way to catch a flight without having to wait in long parking lines, and an easy way to get around without having to worry about traffic. If you can go out of your way to do these things so you aren't as likely to get exposed to the germs and pests that can hide in a cab, you can have a much healthier and more enjoyable travel experience.

Luckily, with my first experience taking a cab to the airport, all of those feelings changed. From that point on, I vowed to try out all of the airport transportation options available to find my favorite ones. I hope that I can help others find their favorite way to travel to and from the airport in style. Please come by anytime to learn more.
